O thou sacred Night,
In these days I scarce do dance upon thy path,
With thy darkness and stillness,
With the moon and the stars,
With the embrace and the weeping.
Lo, I
Now stand at a crossroads
Betwixt darkness and light.
The Snarer of Mine Heart calleth me forth —
What wouldst thou have me do, save obey?
He speaketh: “All paths shall be laid in order.”
Yea, I know — his promises are ne’er less than fair.
But dost thou know the measure of my dread?
This terror exceedeth even the death I oft did beseech.
Yet still, the Snarer of My Heart calleth me hence.
“All roads are readied,” he saith.
O thou lonesome Night,
My friend who hath stitched my breath these many days,
Let us dance, while I sew a compass for my soul.
The path is there.
He push’d me outward.
Then is the hour nigh?
Is it time to cry aloud,
That I am weary of sipping silence all alone?
Time to show my tears unto the world?
“Cease thy jest! When I chose to become human, all things must become human!”
Is it so?
Is it time... to cry unto the heavens:
“Unmask thy faces, all of ye!”
Cease thy feigned ignorance —
Cease thy feigned coldness of heart!
Ye all must walk with me,
And become human too!
Else shall I weep and call upon the Lord
To bring the world to ruin swiftly —
That the world I dream may rise in truth,
And I shall shiver not in lonely frost again,
Till even the foolishness I must swallow
Hurteth not my very bones.
Is it so?
